Steal My Simple Content Method (and Save a Whole Lotta Time)
May 27, 2024Am I the only one that feels like this year is flying by?
Well, I’m here to save you time by giving you my simple content method.
No more staring at a blank screen, trying to come up with content ideas for your LinkedIn brand. No more writer’s block. Just a few steps that will keep you creating content like a pro.
Let's dive in!
Step 1: Create 3-5 content pillars and sub-pillars
The problem many coaches on LinkedIn make is they talk about topics that don’t align with their brand which confuses their readers.
You want to start by asking yourself, “What do I want to be known for on LinkedIn?”
What are the top problems and desires of my ideal clients?
These answers are very important because they help your target audience know you for a particular topic and encourage them to keep coming back, making you the go-to person for that area of expertise.
Action:
Identify 3-5 core topics that align with your expertise and interests.
These will serve as your content pillars. For instance, if your expertise is financial analysis and your interest is coaching, your content pillars will be 3 major topics revolving around finance and coaching such as financial advice and tips, mindset and personal growth, and finance career tips.
After this, break each pillar down into sub-pillars to provide more depth and variety to your content. For instance, under the mindset and personal growth pillar, you can have financial empowerment, goal setting, and financial mindset.
The secret is to talk about one topic in 1000 different ways until you become the go-to expert for that topic.
Chatgpt Prompt:
Please come up with 5 content pillars and sub-pillars for a [insert your coaching title and niche statement]
Example: Please come up with 5 content pillars and sub-pillars for a business coach that helps coaches simplify their systems and strategies so it's easy to achieve consistent $10k+ months.
Check out my content pillars as an example:
Step 2: Develop a theme for each day
Assign a theme to each day of the week based on your content pillars. For example, Monday could be focused on story posts, while Wednesday could be dedicated to sales posts and Thursday to authority posts. Having a theme for each day will give your content structure and make planning easier.
A good structure you can use is Authority posts x2, Story posts x2, and Sales Posts x1(If you post 5x a week).
Step 3: Plan 1 week or more of content
I usually set aside one day every week, preferably on the weekend, e.g. Saturday, to create content for the following week. I block 3 hours at a time and get to work with no distractions.
The goal is to stay one week ahead at all times so you don’t get stranded at any time.
You also want to stick to your content pillars and themes to ensure consistency.
Use tools like spreadsheets, Content Calendars, Notion, Google Docs, AuthoredUp, etc to organize your ideas and schedule.
When you create your content, be sure to pair it with a matching visual to give the content more life. For instance, if you are talking about client feedback, use a screenshot in the picture, so that your reader can understand what you are saying.
Lastly, you want your content to tie to your signature offer. How would you help your target audience achieve that transformation? Talk about it.
Step 4: Find 5 creators for inspiration + create posts
As coaches, we are not exactly professional copywriters and content writers, thus, it’s important that you look out for 5 creators whose content resonates with you.
Draw inspiration from their posts and adapt them to fit your own style and voice. You can use ChatGPT prompts to spark ideas and create engaging posts that provide value to your audience. The goal is to use these as inspiration so you never get stuck in the content creation cycle.
ChatGPT Prompt:
This LinkedIn post performed well [insert post]. Create a similar post with the same structure, but on the topic of [describe your topic here.]
Step 5: Schedule posts using LinkedIn
Once you've created your posts, schedule them using LinkedIn's built-in scheduling feature or AuthoredUp. I specifically recommend LinkedIn’s internal scheduler (AuthoredUp also uses LinkedIn’s internal scheduler) because I have seen that when you use other external software, LinkedIn reduces your reach.
Scheduling ahead allows you to maintain a consistent posting schedule without having to manually publish each post.
Step 6: Take notes on post performance
Keep track of how each post performs in terms of engagement, reach, and conversions. Use this data to identify what resonates with your audience and refine your content strategy accordingly.
The goal is to continue to do the things that are doing really well. On some posts, the reactions may be low but you get inbound leads and new connections. So, you need to be clear on what you are assessing.
Step 7: Repurpose content
Don't let your content go to waste after it's been published. Repurpose it into different formats such as blog posts, videos, or infographics to reach new audiences and extend its lifespan.
3 ways you can repurpose content:
- Deep dive into old content from a few months back, change up the hook, restructure the content, and repost it.
- Break down the same piece of content to suit various social media platforms – I, however, advise that you focus on one social media platform until you build awareness and gain leverage there.
- Turn comments that gained a good number of reactions into posts.
In Conclusion,
With this simple content method, you'll be able to save time, stay consistent, and drive results on LinkedIn. Give it a try and watch your engagement soar.
