#002: The Audience Evolution
Words I believe: If your content sounds too general, you’re probably attracting people who aren’t ready to buy.
The Audience Evolution
You may be attracting the wrong people in your messaging because you’ve outgrown your audience.
I see it all the time. Coaches pouring their hearts into content that’s meant to help… but it's landing with people who aren’t problem-aware or simply can’t afford the service.
Why? Because your message is still talking to your past audience — not the one you’re equipped to serve now.
Let’s shift that.
Here’s how it works:
Get crystal clear on who you help now, not who you helped when you first started.
Then make sure your content speaks directly to their current challenges, desires, and stage of life — not their wishful thinking.
Take me for example:
Old audience: Anyone who had a coaching business.
New audience: Coaches who’ve been in business at least 1 year, already worked with 1:1 clients, posting on LinkedIn, and ready to finally hit consistent $10K months.
See the difference? One sounds like I’m fishing in the ocean. The other? Sniper focus.
More examples:
Career Coach – from “job seekers” to “individual contributors wanting to advance to leadership”
Health Coach – from “anyone who wants to lose weight” to “executive women looking to shed 20 lbs”
Life Coach – from “anyone who feels stuck” to “6-figure business owners secretly questioning their next move”
Business Coach – from “side hustlers” to “full-time coaches scaling to six figures”
The key:
Specific (speak to where they are now, not where they started)
Selective (it’s okay to exclude people who aren’t ready)
Strategic (aligns with your offer and price point)
Intentional (you’re not just posting — you’re positioning)
Talk to the one person you’re best equipped to help now.
You’ll attract fewer people — but better-fit clients who are ready to buy.
As promised, growth in a minute.
